Work on the International Conference Center Agu-Awka in Awka South Local Government Area, has reached roofing stage.
Governor Willie Obiano who paid an inspection visit to the site said that he has the assurances of the contractor handling the project, that roofing materials will start arriving the State in two weeks time.
Our Government House anchorman, Ejike Abana reports that according to Governor Obiano, who said that provision has been made for a site where an International Hotel will be built to possibly accommodate guests from the International Conference Center, the bid is open for willing investors to exploit, adding that once completed, the International Conference Center will generate enormous Internally Generated Revenue for the State.
In his remarks, the Commissioner for Housing and Urban Renewal, Mr Michael Okonkwo noted that everything is in place waiting for the roofing and disclosed that ships of more than twenty containers have arrived the shores of the country and if not for the lock-down, they would have started arriving the state.
Meanwhile, though the contractor said that the lockdown affected the pace of work, workers were seen on ground, working on laterite filling, running wires and testing of the bulbs, among others.
