Communities across Anambra State have been charged
to always protect government facilities in their various areas.
Governor Willie Obiano gave the charge when he inspected the pace of
work on the ongoing Agbaja-Abatete-Oraukwu-Alor Bye pass.
Government House correspondent, Ejike Abana was there and reports that
earthwork and the drainage system have been completed on the road
which spans three kilometers, while asphalting is still ongoing.
Governor Obiano who praised the quality of work, said his
administration is committed to building roads that link up
communities, as well as connect agrarian communities, calling on the
people to always desilt their drainages and avoid burning tires on tarred roads.

While stating that Abatete has always supported his administration’s
development-oriented programmes and policies, Governor Obiano urged
the people to take full ownership of government facilities in their
areas.

The Commissioner for Works, Mr, Marcel Ifejiofor, who said that the
road was awarded in 2017, explained that asphalting work on the road
is remaining six hundred meters and stated that his Ministry having
supervised the work from the scratch, was confident that it would be delivered in a record time.

A former member of the House of Representatives Mr Ifeanyi Ibezi, in his reaction said that the road which is the first feeder road to be tarred in the history of Abatete community, would help to ease the
traffic experienced in the area during festive periods.
The member representing Anambra East and West Federal Constituency,
Chief Chinedu Obidigwe, and others, were part of the inspection
exercise.
