People of Ezinifite, Aguata Local Government Area, residing in the United States of America have distributed one thousand pieces of ten kilogram bag of rice to the people of the community to help them brace the economic impact of novel coronavirus.

The donors under the aegis of Ezinifte Aguata Union – United States of America, a non-profit association that incorporates all indigenes of the town living in the US, explained that the donation was also to support the different palliative measures initiated by Governor Willie Obiano in response to the global health emergency.

Blessing Uchendu reports that the distribution, which took place at the Ezinifite town hall, was carried out with strict adherence to social distancing and mandatory use of face masks, and attracted the traditional ruler of Ezinifite and his Ndiokpalaeze counterpart, cabinet chiefs, chairmen of villages in the town, Youth Leaders, Woman Leader and Umuada Ezinifite.

Reacting to the gesture, the National President of Ezinifite Aguata Union – USA, Chief Jimmy Asiegbu, the Chairman of the Board, Dr Goddy Agba, as well as the National Secretary of the Union, Dr Ebenezer Aka, whose messages were delivered by the traditional ruler of the community Igwe Chukwuma Orji said that the members of the union raised funds to help their community at this difficult time when the economic burden necessitated by the outbreak is already taking toll on them.

They observed that it was at a time like this that humanity must come together and give a hand of help to one another, calling on Ezinifte sons and daughters all over the world, as well as Ndi Anambra elsewhere to come together and help their people in whatever way possible.

Receiving the Bags of rice on behalf of the six villages and thirty wards that make up Ezinifite Community, the traditional ruler of Ezinifite, Igwe Orji, appreciated the community’s sons and daughters in the US for their support and urged them to sustain it.

He called on the people of Ezinifite to embrace agriculture as an alternative income source, especially at this period of pandemic, urging them to keep observing all measures outlined by the government in containing the spread of the virus in the state.

Contributing, the traditional ruler of Ndiokpalaeze, Eze Fredrick Okoli, said that the gesture will go a long way in reducing the sufferings of the people, urging others to emulate the donors.

On his part, the President General of Ezinifite Town Union, Mr Ikemefuna Okwonna, pointed out that it was important that the items got to the people that they were meant for, as the town union has become part of the process to make it transparent.

In there separate remarks, some stakeholders from Ezinifite, including Dr Maurice Umeakuaka, Mr Obumneme Agba, Umenadi Christopher and Mrs Amuche Ilonwuba, thanked the group for their benevolence and prayed God to bless them.
