Barely thirty-six days after the lockdown, authorities and residents of the Nation’s Capital City Abuja, appear to think that it is not yet ripe to relax the stay at home order.

Ekwi Ajide of our Abuja Bureau reports that though government had announced easing the lockdown, there are still blockades on roads leading to the capital city.

Blockades and police check points were at various points from the outskirts of Abuja making the journey to and from the central area strenuous.

Some motorists were turned back for conveying more passengers than the stipulated number while some commuters were denied entry for not wearing facemask.

In spite of these procedures at check points, many do not wear the face mask properly, which according to a civil servant, Mrs. Uzoamaka Eneh, will lead to escalation of coronavirus because a lot of people are just using face mask for fun.

Mrs. Eneh lamented the nonchalant attitude of some inhabitance towards personal protective measures and prayed for God’s intervention.

A legal practitioner, Mr. Ebenezer Amadi said the number of blockades on the road to work made it stressful and also opined that government should not have succumbed to pressure from the masses describing the relaxation of the lockdown as a time bomb waiting to explode.

Mr. Amadi advocated establishment of at least two testing centers in each state as a means of curbing the spread of coronavirus.

Another civil servant, Alhaji Haruna Usman, who claimed to have all personal protective gadgets, was reminded to wear his face mask.
