Health Care Workers have been cautioned against stigmatization of
patients with Covid-19 symptoms.

The advice was given during the training of the twenty-one local
government Directors of Primary Health care on Infection prevention
and control and case management of Covid-19 pandemic, organized by the
Anambra State Primary Health Care Development Agency.

Speaking during the event, the Executive Secretary Anambra State
Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr. Chioma Ezenyimulu said the
aim of the training was to equip the primary health care workers with
knowledge on how to make proper diagnosis and call for prompt referral
when faced with such case.

She however, charged health workers to be vigilant and assist the
state government by reporting patients with symptoms of COVID-19 to
appropriate authorities.

Also, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Indigenous Medicine and
Herbal Practice, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim, advised Ndi Anambra not to
relent in practicing the stipulated preventive measures against
coronavirus such as washing of hands, social distancing, wearing of
face masks and maintenance of good hygiene practices.

Dr Ibezim who is also the Managing Director Anambra state Oxygen Plant
advised that health workers should be prepared for any situation
especially during this coronavirus pandemic so as to manage it
properly.

During the event the Medical Women Association of Nigeria, Anambra
state branch, donated seven hundred face masks through their President
and Secretary, Dr Chioma Ajator and Dr Onyinye Nwazor.

Also present during the training were the Executive Secretary of
Anambra State Health Insurance Agency Dr Simeon Onyemachi represented by the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Willie Obiano on Health Insurance, Dr Dozie Okpalugo, Director of Health in charge of Awka
South Local Government Area, Dr Frank Umeh and the State Health Care
Educator, Mrs Uju Onwuegbuzina.
