The Federal Executive Council has approved forty-seven point two billion naira to boost power supply in the country.
Briefing the press after FEC meeting which was held via video conferencing, the Minister of Power, Mr. Sale Mamman, said it will supply additional forty megawatts of power to the national grid.
Mr. Mamman, who said the forty megawatts would be moved from the Kashimbilla Dam in Taraba state, listed the North-East and Benue state as the beneficiaries of the forty MW when evacuated.
Mr. Mamman added that the country could lose up to one hundred and twenty gigawatts of power or nine million dollars in a year if the energy was not evacuated from the dam.
Contributing, the Minister of Transportation, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi said that FEC also approved a separate six hundred and thirty-eight million naira for the Nigerian Ports Authority.
Mr. Amaechi, who spoke on the approval, noted that the money is for the procurement of nineteen operational vehicles, the first time the NPA would buy vehicles in the last four years.
