The Federal Polytechnic, Oko, Anambra state, has manufactured an Anti Covid-19 machine, with automated hand washing, drying and sanitizer compartments.
The device is manufactured by the Anti- Covid-19 Technical Team of the Polytechnic, in response to the containment of the pandemic.
Rector of the Polytechnic, Dr Francisca Nwafulugo, commissioned the facility at the Administrative block of the Polytechnic, and was witnessed by management and key staff members of the institution.
The Anti Covid-19 Machine is a well censored solar powered fully automated device and a no body contact machine which has three segments that enables three persons to use it at the same time without violating social distancing rules.
The high-tech device equally has two sections of sanitizer dispensation, one section of hand dryer coupled with one section of water and soap dispenser.
The machine could be used by one thousand persons before refilling it’s contents, without any additional cost.
Launching the machine, Rector Nwafulugo praised the team efforts of the staff and students who worked hard to achieve the result as she noted that it would assist in reducing the spread of the Coronavirus pandemic.
Nwafulugo appealed to government at all levels to partner the Polytechnic to produce in large quantity the machine and position it at strategic places like banks, markets and religious houses among others.
The Rector further announced that the Institution would commence online lectures to enable student accelerate further with their studies.
The leader of the Technical Team, Engr. Christopher Osuji thanked the Rector for the confidence and support she gave them during the project as he explained the functions of the machine while noting that the machine has anti-theft compartment to prevent it from being stolen.
Also applauding the Rector were Mrs Nwabu Ezemba, Acting Librarian, and the Chief Security Officer, Mr. Abdullahi David whom they described as one with a great vision which has improved academic activities in the Polytechnic, urging her to do more.
On his part, the SUG President, Comrade Kingsley Asiegbu, expressed readiness to extend the project to all parts of the Polytechnic with the help of the management and government.
Speaking on behalf of the students involved in manufacturing the machine, Master Felix Ibeamaka, a final year student of Computer Engineer Department, said the innovation has widened his experiences in technology.
