Aliko Dangote, is helping to boost the economy of the South-East and
South-South parts of the country through job creation for many people
in the region.

This is being achieved by Dangote’s dedicated patronage of Shacman
trucks being assembled at Enugu, the Anambra Motor Manufacturing
Company Limited, ANAMMCO.

During a tour of the massive Assembly Plant at Emene Industrial Layout
near Enugu, ANANMMCO said, the company which has been moribund for
about thirty years, has returned to full operation through Dangote
Group’s continued patronage of Shacman trucks now being assembled at
the company.

The Managing Director of the ABC/TSS, Mr. Frank Nneji, who stated this
during the tour, said roll outs of ten vehicles daily from ANAMMCO are
largely purchased by the Dangote Group.

Mr. Nneji noted that the group had purchased about three thousand five
hundred trucks from the automaker worth sixty-three billion naira
adding that Dangote Group first embraced the Shacman brand in 2016,
about one year after the partnership between the TSS and ANAMMCO was
sealed, and being satisfied with the performance of the trucks, the
group reportedly placed an order for three hundred and fifty units and
has sustained the patronage since then.

This positive development, he said reportedly prompted the auto firm
to recall many of the former ANAMMCO workers that were disengaged when
operation became crippled, in addition to engaging new set of
employees and young school leavers engaged for industrial attachment
and technical training.

Mr. Nneji also noted that the area around the assembly plant was fast
becoming an automobile cluster, making Enugu a motor city.
He added that the plant is also said to be producing the chassis numbers, which are
locally generated and printed on the truck engine.
