Six Villages in Nawgu Community, Dunukofia Council Area have benefited from palliative materials distributed to them by the Association of Nawgu Citizens in Overseas to cushion the effects of lockdown occasioned by Coronavirus pandemic.
The palliative, initiated by the traditional ruler of the community Igwe George Okaa-Onwuogu ,was to reduce hunger amongst Ndi Nawgu.
Correspondent, Amaka Chibuzor Okoye was there and reports that the items distributed were twenty sets of hand washing machines, six hundred bags of rice, two hundred bags of beans, face masks and tubers of yam.
Speaking to newsmen,the traditional ruler of the community, Igwe Okaa-Onwuogu said that the novel coronavirus brought untold hardship to people , especially those at the rural areas, stating that his subjects benefited from all the interventions provided by the present administration.
Igwe Okaa-Onwuogu commended Governor Willie Obiano for his actions and support to Ndi Anambra which his subjects emulated in providing for the downtrodden, pointing out that the governor has been carrying Ndi Igwe along so as to ensure they contain the spread of the deadly virus in their various communities.
The Vice President General of Nawgu Development Union, Mr. Ifeanyi Ibegbu said that the items gave hope to the people assuring that the Monitoring Committee would ensured that they will get to the people they were meant for.
A former President General of the community and Secretary of the Igwe in Council, Ichie Emmachuks Ilozue extolled the peaceful co-existence in Nawgu, stating that their traditional ruler and others have helped in ensuring that they surmount the challenges of this pandemic assuring of proper distribution of the palliative materials . The items were shared through the Chairmen and Secretaries of all the villages that make up the community.
