Media practitioners have been advised to utilise the opportunity
offered by technology in telling their stories better and on time.

The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the ABS Chief
Uche Nworah gave the advice while delivering a lead paper to media
practitioners through Google Conference , to mark 2020 World Communications
day in Awka Catholic Diocese.

Presenting the paper titled “telling our stories” Chief Nworah
highlighted gains of using smart phones provided by technology to tell
quality stories to divergent audience and viewers with ease.

Chief Nworah maintained that the Anambra Teaching on line was one of
the benefits of using smart phones to tutor school children at a time
when the world was locked down, noting that it was one of the benefits
of technology to mankind adding that the ABS enlighten the masses
through documentary, radio and television news as well as online
footages ,videos and pictures.

He noted that technology has not just increased the speed with which
media practitioners disseminate information but also has brought about
convergence in both print and electronic means of communication.

The ABS boss called on journalists to update themselves through
trainings and retrainings as he said that they should not only wait
for their proprietors to send them on trainings rather to read
articles, books and other instructional materials so as to be abreast
with the modern trend in communication.

He noted that Pope Francis in this year’s theme” That you may tell
your children and grand children”, has set in motion how and what to
tell as stories especially the recent event unfolding in this part of
the world.

Also speaking , the Director of Communications Awka Diocese Reverend Father Martin Anusi who commended Chief Nworah for sharing his ideas with media practitioners especially journalists, called on them to put into practice what they learnt for the good of the society.

Father Anusi maintained that there is need to shun fake news , urging
journalist to always report accurately and promote peace through their
reportage.
