A revised bill to provide the sum of one hundred and fourteen point
nine billion naira for the services of Anambra State government for
the year 2020 has scaled second reading at the State House of
Assembly.
The bill passed second reading during yesterdays plenary in Awka.
House of Assembly Correspondent, Chukwuemeka Modilim was there and reports that the Majority Leader, Dr Nnamdi Okafor presented the bill to the House
for the second reading, the Speaker, Right Honourable Uche Okafor read
it for passage, while the lawmakers supported it through a voice vote.
Thereafter, the bill was referred to the House Committee on Finance
and Appropriation to make Amends where necessary and report back to
the House on the next adjourned date.
At plenary, the House amended few sections of the COVID-19 and other
dangerous infectious diseases prevention and eradication law 2020.
The House also considered and adopted the report of its committee on
public accounts on audited account of Anambra State government and the
twenty one local government areas of the state for the year 2018.
On a matter of urgent public importance, the House passed a resolution
urging Governor Willie Obiano to intervene and urgently set up a panel
of enquiry to investigate the Achalla/Urum land dispute, find lasting
solutions and restore peace in the two communities.
The motion was sponsored by the member representing Awka North
Constituency, in the state Assembly, Honourable John Nwokoye.
