As the work to battle COVID-19 pandemic continues, Ndi Anambra
resident in Abuja have commended the state government for its
proactive stance against the pandemic.

Ekwi Ajide of our Abuja Bureau reports that many of the residents
interviewed commended Governor Willie Obiano for taking good care of
the masses.

A former member that represented Anambra North Senatorial District in
the Senate, Senator Emma Anosike, praised the Governor for what he
termed strong leadership skills in the fight against the virus.

He advocated that wash hand basin with running water be placed at
strategic locations in all the markets in the state,a subsidy
introduced for face masks and sanitizers so as to make it available
for the common man.

According to Senator Anosike, government should continue in its
efforts at creating awareness about the virus so that people become
more aware and take care of themselves saying that if citizens are
aware about the dangers of Coronavirus, they will adhere to guidelines
and report to authorities if they feel unwell.

Senator Anosike opined that the lockdown brought about down turn in
the economy especially the Agric sector as most agricultural inputs
come from outside the country or states.

Chief China Onwuzuruike from Ogidi, commended Governor Obiano for
standing firm, stating that in spite of the global pandemic, the
state’s activities were going smoothly with proper supervision.

He reechoed the need for more awareness programmes to make the masses
more enlightened about the pandemic just as he urged the people to use
face masks, practice social distancing and report to authorities if
they are sick.

For Sir Pat Okwuba from Ukpor, Anambra State government should be
emulated by other governments in the fight against COVID-19.

He extolled Governor Obiano for responding swiftly to the plight of
citizens through provision of palliatives but implored the governor to
also remember poor indigenes in urban areas, especially those
residents in the Federal Capital Territory.
