Anambra state Governor, Chief Willie Obiano has confirmed a second death from COVID-19 in the state.
Governor Obiano gave the confirmation during his regular statewide broadcast at the Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia.
The Governor explained that the deceased was admitted into a private hospital for an ailment unrelated to COVID-19, pointing out that he died two days after he was discharged.
According to the Governor who said that it has been brought to his notice that many people especially traders in markets and places of worship don’t wear the protective face masks, his administration will not fail to enforce the newly signed COVID-19 law, adding that he may consider another lockdown or close down of specific markets who are non-compliant.
Giving out the figures, Governor Obiano said that eight patients are in the protective centers, sixty nine patients are home-quarantined, while two are quarantined in the facility.
The Governor who announced that in line with federal government’s announcement, the curfew has been extended from 10 pm to 4 am, commended the health workers for their efforts in the fight, urging ndi Anambra to comply with all safety protocols.
He advised every hospital operating in the state to equip a mini holding center for potential COVID-19 patients, for better management, stressing that his administration has noted with joy that people can fight the infection by boosting their immune systems through healthy dieting, taking right supplements as recommended by their doctors.
The Governor concluded by emphasizing that there may be rise in reported cases as a result of aggressive testing, calling for calm.
