Indigenes of Ossomala in Ogbaru Local Government Area living in United States of American have presented twenty -eight bags of 50kg rice to the nine villages in Ossomala to cushion the effect of COVID-19 pandemic on the people .
The presentation took place at the palace of the traditional ruler of the community.
Oggorchukwu Oranu reports that the indigenes of Ossomala in American who donated the relief are Sir Alexius Emejo,Lady Vivian Umeh-Ogbugbulu,Dr.Raphael Ikeh,Sir Michael Obiora,Mr Nnamdi Osaji,Lady Chisom Okwesa Okonkwo,Mr.Ikenna Okwesa,Mrs Àmaka Nweke-Okwesa and their families.
Making the presentation on behalf of the donors, Mrs Ijeoma Uche of Anambra Broadcasting Service, said the relief was entrusted to her to dispatch to the community due to her relationship with one of their daughters, Lady Vivian Umeh -Ogbugbulu.
According to Mrs Uche,the donors were also affected by the pandemic because they have not been working throughout the period of lockdown in American but because they were touched by the plight of the people hence their decision to reach out to them.
In a speech, the traditional ruler of Ossomala town,Okakwu Victor Awogu who was represented by a member of his Cabinet, Chief Patrick Chukwuma expressed the community’s appreciation to the donors describing them as worthy sons and daughters of Ossomala kingdom and thanked them for thinking home in this trying time and prayed God to reward them abundantly.
The Head of Isiolu village, Hon. Stephen Mbieri assured the donors that the rice will be shared accordingly to the villagers.
Some village representatives including Onyebuchi Unachukwu, Nduka Obiechina and Charles Ifejika, prayed for health, long life and prosperity on the donors.
The relief materials were later distributed to the village representatives by Chief Patrick Chukwuma who also represented Ugolo village.
