Training for COVID-19 Task Force Team from Local government councils
and wards in the state has ended in Awka.
The event organized by the state Ministry of Health was held at the
Professor Dora Akunyili Women’s Development Centre Awka and attracted
local government chairmen and their councilors from all the local
government areas of the state among others.
While addressing the participants, the Anambra state Commissioner for Health Dr. Vincent Okplala who said that coordination is key to fighting the
ugly virus, noted that the training was to help the participants to
train other people at the local government and ward levels across the
state.
Dr. Okplala explained that the job of the Task Force Team is among
other things, going from house to house to seek out people with
symptoms that are COVID-19 related, contact tracing as well as
compliance with all the Coronavirus preventive guidelines.
He equally revealed that the Ministry has developed an APP for the
Task Force Team for effective and effective data collection.
The Special Adviser to Governor Willie Obiano on Disability Matters,
Barrister Chuks Ezewuzie trained the participants on the best ways to
manage persons living with disabilities in the course of their new
assignment.
In their various remarks, the Transition Committee Chairman of Anaocha
Local Government Area, Mr. Patrick Onyedum, his Njikoka and Nnewi
South counterparts, Mr. George Ozoh and Mr Chieloka Okoye described
the training as timely and assured that they will continue to do their
best in their various council areas to help the state government in
the fight against COVID-19.
