The Standards Organization of Nigeria, SON, has issued Mandatory
Conformity Assessment Program, MANCAP certification to WINCO Foam
Industries Limited.
The presentation was made at the WINCO Foam factory in Awka.
Blessing Uchendu reports that the Mandatory Conformity Assessment Program, MANCAP certification is awarded to companies that have passed the standardization tests on quality production in conformity with the production guidelines issued solely by the Standards Organization of Nigeria, SON.
Making the presentation, the Director General of SON, Mr Osita Aboloma
represented by the Anambra state Co-ordinator, Engineer Sunday
Omoniyi, said that the award was part of the federal government’s
efforts at improving the lives of Nigerians in ensuring quality of
products and safety of lives especially during this period of COVID-19
pandemic.
Receiving the Certificate, Dr Godwin Okafor, who is the Managing
Director and Chief Executive Officer of Winco Foam, expressed
satisfaction for having his products certified for standardization and
assured of more quality productions.
Dr Okafor listed some of the challenges faced by the industry to
include poor power supply, high cost of production, lack of adequate
infrastructure and regulatory problems.
Among the SON representatives were Mrs Blessing Okata, Engineer Miriam
Igboegwu and Mr Chisom Ananwuna, who were taken round the factory by
the factory manager, Mr Henry Akhan.
WINCO is one of the front line mattresses in the country with
warranties ranging between ten and fifteen years.
