The member representing Awka South Two Constituency at Anambra State
House of Assembly, Honourable Chukwuma Okoye has offered thanks to God
for the laudable achievements he recorded in office for the past one
year.
The thanksgiving mass, held at St. Edward’s Catholic Parish Amawbia,
was witnessed by members of the House.
House of Assembly correspondent, Chukwuemeka Modilim reports that it was a moment of joy to the lawmaker and his family as they walked
to the altar and offered thanks to the Lord for his goodness in their
lives.
In a homily, the Parish Priest, Saint Edward’s Catholic Church,
Amawbia, Reverend Father Frederick Anawuna stated that Honourable
Okoye has acknowledged God as the giver of good success through
thanksgiving and urged others to emulate him.
In his remark, the Speaker, Anambra State House of Assembly, Right
Honourable Uche Okafor described Honourable Okoye as a pillar in the
Seventh Assembly as he made the success of the House in the past one
year very remarkable.
The Speaker urged the people to wear face mask if they must step out
as defaulters are liable to a ten thousand naira fine, community
service or both.
Speaking to journalists after the mass, Honourable Okoye explained
that he has touched the lives of his constituents by organizing
football competitions where he selected talented players and sent them
overseas for the advancement of their career.
He further revealed that he constructed class room blocks at Community
Secondary School Isiagu, built houses for widows, attracted road
project to his constituency, and awarded scholarship to less
privileged brilliant students in the area among others.
In their remarks, the member representing Aguata One Constituency, Dr.
Carter Umeh and the immediate past Deputy Speaker of the State House
of Assembly, Chief Hafford Oseke affirmed that the lawmaker has lived
up to expectation within one year in office.
