A new executive has been elected for Onitsha Branch of the Nigerian
Bar Association NBA.

They will pilot the affairs of the Association for the next two years.
The new team which has Mr Steve Onyechi-Ononye as Chairman assumed
office last Friday following their official inauguration.

Other new Officers of the Branch include Margaret Wilcox Iwuchukwu,
Vice Chairman, Frank Ibechukwu, Secretary, Noel Udoji, Assistant
Secretary; Princess Chizoba Ajamma-Muoneke, Treasurer; and Stella
Ikeogu, Social Secretary.

Presenting his inaugural speech, the new Chairman of the association
Mr Onyechi- Ononye thanked the members for the confidence reposed in
him promising to carry out his duties in the best interest of the
branch, Anambra State and Nigeria in general.

Mr Ononye stressed that his administration will uphold the unity and
sanctity of the association above personal interest and called on
their senior colleagues to be more committed to the affairs of the
branch so as to lift it to greater heights.

While assuring that he will carry everybody along to achieve the goals
of the Association, Mr Ononye outlined some his agenda to include:
aggressive membership drive, increased enforcement of human rights
laws, promoting professional conduct for lawyers, especially younger
ones among others.
