Notwithstanding the enormous development projects in Anambra since 2014, hirelings of political opponents of the present state government are hell bent on giving false narrative. Their attitudes lend credence to the postulation of Joseph Goebbels, the Nazi German Minister of Propaganda during the Second World War, who said that when lies are told ceaselessly, less informed persons tend to believe such lies.

However, no matter the effort one makes to stifle the truth; it is still sacrosanct. Rational thinkers still recall that as soon as Governor Willie Obiano came on board in 2014, he built three magnificent flyovers in the state capital, Awka on the Enugu-Onitsha expressway. With this positive development as well as establishment of a capital territory development authority, Awka began to wear the look of a state capital.

Other legacy projects built by the present state government include the longest bridge across the Omambala River from Otuocha to the state’s oil field at Aguleri-Otu. Currently, it is building an International Airport at Umuleri and an International Conference Center in Awka. It is equally on record that the Golden Tulip hotel, Agulu and the Onitsha shopping mall, inherited from the previous administration, were completed and commissioned by the government.

Other outstanding structures which have made the Obiano administration stand shoulder high include the construction of one of the most modern orientation camps for the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, in Nigeria, at Umuawulu-Mbaukwu in Awka South local government area; the biggest oxygen manufacturing plant in the Southeast at the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, Awka and the Court of Appeal, Awka. Other noteworthy things done by the state government includes; community choose your projects initiative and operation light up Anambra state.

A recent tour by some journalists to various communities in Anambra South Senatorial district vividly shows that the Obiano government is engaging in massive road construction and erosion control measures. Apart from the erosion ogre at the hundred foot road, Uruagu Nnewi, which has been miraculously contained, many roads in the senatorial district have either been completed or ongoing.

Some of the roads and erosion sites visited with pictorial evidences by the media team include but not limited to; construction of Nnewi urban roads viz: Coscharis, Onwuzulike Okonkwo and Francis Maduka road; Nnewi hotel road; Ezinifite – Aguata local government headquarters road; Ezira – Umuomaku – Enugwu Umuonyia – Achina road with a bridge; Uzoakwa- Ubahuekwem – Oseakwa road with a spur to Oluoha Okechukwu road, Ihiala and Mbosi – Azia – Ukpor road with a bridge.

Others are Ezinifite – Unubi – Ekwulummili- Akwaihedi- Uga road; Malinze- Ugworie- Umuike Ezinifite road; Ebenato – Udene Amichi- Nnewi road; Ihite- Ndiorji road in Orumba South local government area; construction of Saint Peters University, Achina- Onneh, Jerome Udoji road in Ozubulu and Atani – Ozubulu road plus Umuhu-Ezike road, Okija.

One outstanding thing about the roads is that they are built with solid drainage channels on both sides to checkmate erosion. This is to guarantee their longevity. This is also the case in Anambra North and Central districts.

Therefore, the campaign of calumny against the present administration would not work in the face of hard evidences of its sterling and indiscriminate performances in the three senatorial districts of Anambra state.
