Anambra State House of Assembly has urged Governor Willie Obiano to
direct the contractor handling the Akpaka Forest road to immediately
return back to site to ameliorate the sufferings of road users at 3-3
Onitsha.
This is part of the resolutions of the House during yesterday’s
plenary following a motion sponsored to that effect by the member
representing Onitsha North Constituency Two, Honourable Edward Ibuzo.
House of Assembly Correspondent, Chukwuemeka Modilim was there and reports that while giving more insight on the motion, Honourable Ibuzo said that the Akpaka road which serves as better alternative route for motorists plying through the 3-3 road and those visiting the new airport site is in a very deplorable condition notwithstanding the private partnership which the landlord associations had with past administrations.
The Legislator expressed confidence that if Governor Obiano directs
the contractor handling the Akpaka road to immediately return back to
site, after the construction of the road, it will reduce the hours
being spent on 3-3 Road and also ensure free movement of people and
goods.
On his part, the Chief Whip and member representing Dunukofia
Constituency, Honourable Lawrence Ezeudu noted that majority of people
living in 3-3 Onitsha contribute greatly to the Internally Generated
Revenue of the State.
The Member representing Onitsha North Constituency One, Honourable
Douglas Egbuna and the Member representing Idemili South Constituency,
Honourable Chuka Ezenwune and his Awka North counterpart, Honourable
John Nwokoye also spoke in favour of the motion.
The Speaker of the House, Right Honourable Uche Okafor who commended
Governor Obiano for doing his best in terms of road construction and
reconstruction with the megre resources of the state urged him to
