Efforts of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, in Dunukofia council to boost its membership attracted a prominent son of Umudioka, Chief Chukwuemeka Nwagu, to the party.

Correspondent, Ejike Abana reports that the event which was held at Chief Nwagu’s country home in Umudioka, was facilitated by the Transition Committee Chairman for Dunukofia Council Area, Mr Emeka Okonkwo.

The State Chairman of APGA, Sir Norbert Obi, led party faithful in the community and the state to the event. It was also attended by the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Right Hon Uchenna Okafor, member representing Anambra East and West at the House of Representatives, Chief Chinedu Obidigwe, Deputy Chief of Staff and Chief Protocol Officer to Governor Obiano, Chief Uzuegbuna Okagbue among others.

Igwe Peter Anugwu of Mbaukwu, as well Umudioka royal cabinet led by Chairman of Anambra Physical Planning Board, Barrister Chike Maduekwe, were present at the occasion.

Welcoming the new entrant, Sir Norbert Obi assured that he would not regret joining the party which he said is replete with people of ideas and innovations geared towards progress.

In a speech, Chief Obidigwe who was optimistic that the party is better positioned to produce the next Governor of the state, stressed that APGA is poised to improve on achievements of past years.

Also speaking , the Speaker Rt. Hon. Okafor expressed believes that the new entrant chose to identify with APGA because of its many success stories, calling on members of the party in the council area and the state to join hands to make the party stronger, within the South East region and the country at large.

In a remark , the Transition Committee Chairman of Dunukofia, Mr Okonkwo commended the new entrant for joining APGA, pointing out Governor’s achievements and progress of the party in the region, among others, have continued to make the party attractive to people , urging members to continue to follow in the foot steps of the founding fathers of the party.

Responding, Chief Nwagu said that he joined the party to make his own contribution to the progress of the party and the state.

Chief Nwagu and wife were later adorned with the APGA uniform and caps as symbol of full membership, having fulfilled requirements at the ward and local government levels.
