Landscape is one of the important and fundamental issues which have been the centre of attention lately. Hence, it is regarded as one of the crucial elements in urban sustainable development.

Landscaping is an art which includes building beautiful structures, well designed flower gardens, trimming of bushes and shrubs into interesting and innovative shapes, planting ornamental grasses, and decorating colourful stones on pavement and walkways to make the surrounding beautiful. That is why, proper landscaping offers owners and users increased livability, improved health, greater flexibility, enhanced energy, employment and environmental performance.

Anambra, no doubt, is emerging frantically beautiful as it has massive cultural and historical monument with beautiful landscape that can boost tourism. It is indeed awed inspiring in its complexity and a wonder to behold in its entirety.

Governor Willie Obiano’s administration opened a window into evolving the resilient community that has been forging in Anambra State. His administration has made tremendous efforts to place Anambra State on the front row of Nigeria’s developing states. The quest to maintain the standards of heritage play a key role in developing beautiful architectural layouts. Anambra State boasts of undulating landscape with tall trees and rich green vegetation all year round.

Early this year, the state hosted the twelfth Police Games in various locations across the state. Governor Obiano remarkable drove recorded success in providing the needed facilities and services for a successful hosting. These, in turn, changed the landscape of the state.

Some of the facilities that were newly constructed for the events were Olympic-sized swimming pool, volley ball and basketball courts. For days, from Oba, where the track and field events were held to Otuocha where the football games held, to Mbaukwu, Golden Tulip Hotel, Dr Alex Ekwueme Square and several other centres, Anambra was agog.

Furthermore, Governor Obiano has commissioned the NYSC orientation camp at Mbaukwu/Umuawulu. That has broken the 28 years record during which Anambra operated a temporary improvised NYSC camp since its creation in 1991.

Anambra is appraised for its abundant works of art and avalanche of art centres. The state is one of the most cultural endowed in Nigeria. For instance, the rich culture and tourism potential of people of Onitsha serves as a veritable avenue for showcasing the nation’s cultural endowment. Onitsha main market also portrays ambience of the classy stalls and shops in the largest market in West Africa.

Also, the Ogba Ukwu Cave and Waterfalls at Owerre Ezeukala is a beauty to behold. Water springs on top of the Ogba Rock from an eternal stream at the foot of the cave which creates colourful rainbow sparkles that could leave one filled with admiration. Ogbaukwu Cave and Waterfalls presents one of the natural tourist attractions in Anambra State.

There’s also the Rojenny Tourist Village, Oba. This community provides an exotic tropical atmosphere for relaxation, cultural entertainment and nature conservation for an enjoyable stay. It has such places to tour as the game reserves, museum, stadium, amusement park, tennis court, Olympic-sized swimming pool etcetera.

Another tourist attraction is the Agulu Crocodile Lake. The lake is home to an estimated three hundred crocodiles, water turtles and fishes. The beautiful scenery of the lake provides a soothing environment for picnics and an ample view to take pictures of the crocodiles and turtles that appear at the bank of the lake to bask in the sunlight. There are other interesting places which showcase beautiful landscape in the state.

Akpokuedike has created a harmonious social environment in Nigeria’s cultural landscape where any gift can find expression. His administration has transformed Anambra State to a paradigm of exemplary light to other states. This transformation has swung Anambra into a social orbit in a manner that took everyone by surprise. Anambra is, indeed, the light of the nation!
