Over one hundred and thirty thousand naira worth of farm inputs has been distributed to FG/IFAD VCDP farmers across the eight participating council areas of Anambra state.

The inputs, including fertilizers, herbicides, improved Rice seeds and cassava cuttings, are expected to cover three thousand hectares of Rice farm and two thousand hectares of cassava farm.

Ebele Ezeh reports that Governor Willie Obiano has officially inaugurated the FG/IFAD VCDP 2020 farm inputs disbursement to benefiting state farmers at Atani, Ogbaru local government area.

Governor Obiano represented by the state Commissioner for Agriculture, Mechanization, Processing and Export, Mr. Nnamdi Onukwuba warned that any farmer or cooperative society, cut selling the inputs would be black listed from all intervention programmes.

He charged them to immediately put the inputs into good use, expand their production capacity, grow more food, be diligent in their farming activities and keep safe from COVID-19.

The State Programme Coordinator, FG/IFAD VCDP, Mr. Nnamdi Agwuncha announced that youths and women groups will pay thirty percent cost of the input while FG/IFAD VCDP will pay the remaining seventy per cent.
In his speech, Igwe Dr Esimai of Ohita, who spoke through the Adaje Asi Igwe Ohita, Chief Nzemeka Chukwura, applauded the FG/IFAD VCDP for facilitating their farming activities through capacity building, inputs disbursement and lots more, praying for its sustainability.

For some of the beneficiaries, including the chairman, Devine Grace Cooperative Society Atani, Mr. Obi Ezeani and the chairperson, Chukwubueze Cooperative group Amiyi, Mrs. Blessing Mbanefo while expressing their joy over the gesture, promised to make Anambra State proud through their farming business.
