The sixty-eight inmates, who escaped from a jail in South Africa’s
Western Cape on Friday, have all been rearrested.
The break-out happened after inmates at Malmesbury Prison
“overpowered” staff during an exercise session, though previous
reports said they escaped while being transferred to court for trial.
Prison officials were praised for “restoring stability” following a
two-day manhunt.
South Africa’s Justice Minister, Ronald Lamola has since thanked
people in the local community for giving “critical information” that
led to the arrests.
He was quoted as saying that the escapees would be punished for their actions.
