As Anglican Church in Igbo land marks one hundred and sixty-three years CMS Anniversary, the faithful have been advised to re-enact the spirit of evangelizing all frontiers, the aim of the founding fathers of Christianity.

The Archdeacon in charge of Inland Town Archdeaconry, Venerable Joseph Nweke, gave the advice in his CMS Anniversary message at Anglican Church of Divine Love Onitsha.

Venerable Nweke, who appealed to the people to imbibe the spirit of mission and gospel, went down memory lane on how the gospel came to Onitsha through Bishop Ajayi Crowther and his group in 1857 and enjoined Christians to preach the gospel to every nook and cranny of the society to attain the desired success.

At St Stephen’s Anglican Church Onitsha, Reverend Canon Emmanuel Ibezim noted that the advent of Christianity in Igbo land brought light and a lot of good things like Health care services, Education, clothing, end to killing of twins and eating of human flesh among other mundane practices.
Reverend Canon Ibezim, who regretted that some Christians have deviated from that light, stated that hatred, jealousy, bitterness and rancour have sneaked into the church and called on the young generation to cling onto Christ for them to remain in that light which the gospel has brought to mankind.

Correspondent, Emengini Osadebe, reports that the church services were held amidst strict adherence to COVID-19 protocols.
