The three day agenda for data analytic training organized by Anambra
State Ministry of Health for its personnel has ended in Awka with a
call on participants to implement all they learnt in their daily
official activities, for effective service delivery.

The training among others things was aimed at introducing the
principles of data management as the foundation for the production of
quality data, position participants to independently produce
statistics bulletin, start the process of indicators selection by both
state and partners programs and set a timeline for completion of the
assignment.

Addressing participants, the state Commissioner for Health, Dr Vincent
Okpala, described data as the life of the health sector in view of the
improving health care services in Anambra State.
While announcing that the state’s COVID-19 pandemic status stands at
one hundred and forty-two cases, Dr Okpala reminded Ndi Anambra the
need to keep adhering strictly to COVID-19 preventive measures to be
safe from the virus.

In an interview, the Head Planning, Research and Statistics in the
Ministry Mrs. Edith Nwachukwu promised to monitor and ensure that
participants from the department apply all they garnered in their
daily work.

In separate interviews, some of the participants including
Anambra State Epidemiologist, Dr Chuma Emembolu and the Program
Manager, Saving One Million Lives Program, Dr Obiageli Uchebo while
expressing happiness for being privileged participants, said with the
knowledge garnered, they are now experts in handling data.
Next batch of the program, sponsored by the European Union and the
World Health Organization with the aim of strengthening the Nigerian
health system for primary health care delivery, will commence next
week.
