The remains of Brother Celestine Uchenna Okpalaeze have been laid to rest at his hometown, Nnokwa in Idemili South Local Government Area.
The burial ceremony which commenced with a requiem mass at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church Nnokwa attracted family members, relatives, friends, sympathizers as well as the ABS family.

Brother Celestine Okpalaeze who was an Oblate of Saint Benedict and a Jerusalem Pilgrim was an elder brother to the Director of News and Current Affairs of the Anambra Broadcasting Service Mr Gab Okpalaeze.
Onyinye Agubaeze reports that in a homily, the Parish Priest of Our Lady of Queen of Peace, Fegge, Onitsha Reverend Father Basil Okelu noted that prior to the death of Brother Celestine Okpalaeze, he held a lot of relevant religious positions both in his hometown Nnokwa and his place of residence, Port Harcourt Rivers State and was committed to his duties.

Reverend Father Okelu who noted that God used the deceased as a symbol to show people who came in contact with him the good way of life urged Christians to live a good life so as not to be found wanting on the last day.

Speaking to the ABS, the Brother of the deceased and Director of News and Current Affairs, of the Anambra Broadcasting Service, Mr Gab Okpalaeze said that the late Celestine played the role of a mentor, confidant as well ensured that he was brought up in Godly way, assuring that himself and his siblings will uphold his late brother’s legacy.


The son of the deceased, Mr Uchenna Okpalaeze who appreciated those who came to sympathize with the family said his father lived a good life and as such takes solace that he rests in the bosom of the Lord.

In a condolence message, the Head of Administration of the Anambra Broadcasting Service, Miss Tina Ekenta who led the staff and management of the Anambra Broadcasting Service and the Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists, Anambra State Council, Mr Emmanuel Ifesinachi, sympathized with their colleague, Mr Gab Okpalaeze on the demise of his brother, praying God to help him and the entire family the fortitude to bear the trauma of his death.

Also, the President of the Oblates of Saint Benedict, Paschal Monastery, Nike, Enugu, Brother Godwin Chukwugozie and Chief James Orazulume as well as a retired Director of Protocols in the state, Sir Charles Mbakigwe noted that the late Brother Celestine lived a life worthy of emulation and would be missed greatly.
The late Brother Celestine Okpalaeze died at age of sixty eight.
Interment, reading of tribute at the graveside, as well as condolence visits featured at the funeral ceremony.

A one-time Managing Director of the Anambra Broadcasting Service, Lady Chinwe Nnedum also attended the ceremony.
