Reconstruction work has commenced on the failed portion of
Enugwu-Ukwu-Nise-Nibo-Agu Awka road, undertaken by the Obiano
administration.
The Commissioner for Works Engineer Marcel Ifejiofor inspected pace
and quality of work at the site with Directors in the Ministry.
Our Works Correspondent, Ngozi Obileri reports that
the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Works Barrister Emeka Ohuoha was
among those who accompanied the Works commissioner on the inspection
visit.
At the site men of the Master Holdings Construction Company were on
ground with equipment and materials readily available for their use.
Speaking after inspecting the road, Commissioner Ifejiofor expressed
satisfaction with the pace and quality of work done noting
that the contractor is working even on Sundays to ensure that the
portion is completed now that there is dry weather.
Engineer Ifejiofor said that work commenced from the Enugwu-Ukwu Ring
Road-Nise axis and has been asphalted up to Nise, but explained that state government decided to work on that particular portion because it has become very bad due to its terrain.
He appealed to commuters plying the road to exercise little patient as
the road would be soon and be fixed and commended the contractor for
making the portion motorable within a very short time.
He also promised that other roads under construction will soon receive
serious attention
