Tilapia Aquaculture Developers Association of Nigeria has inaugurated the Anambra State Chapter of the association for the development of tilapia fish in the State.

During the event which took place at the Fishery and Aquaculture Business Development Agency Headquarters in Awka a six man committee selected from different parts of the State to drive the State government’s vision in the aquaculture subsector was inaugurated.


The Committee has from the date of inauguration to steer the activities of the Association pending when the Association is of age to mobilize and conduct elections.

While addressing members of the new Association the Chief of Staff to the Anambra State government, Mr. Primus Odili said that in Europe and other western countries most of the rich people are farmers and that Nigeria has huge farming potential and urged the association to form cooperatives in order to access loans that will help them in expanding their businesses.

Performing the Inauguration of the Interim Committee, the National Vice President of Tilapia Aquaculture Developers Association of Nigeria, Mr. Nurudeen Tiamiyu said that the creation of the state chapter is to educate the farmers and guide them on how to asses modern equipment in enhancing their status in tilapia production.

In his remarks, the Managing Director of Fishery and Aquaculture Business Development Agency who also doubles as the Interim Chairman of the Association, Mr. Emeka Iloghalu explained that the Agency was created to drive the development of aquaculture in the State and promised that they will hit the ground running in organizing the Association so as to acquire modern technology in rearing tilapia fishes in the State.
Other members of the Interim Committee are Mr Gabriel Muoneke Vice Chairman, Tony Odili General-Secretary, Mr. Innocent Okeke Publicity Secretary, Chigozie Anochie, Financial Secretary and Somadina Onwuazombe Welfare Officer.
