Officials of Operation Clean and Healthy Anambra, OCHA Brigade have embarked on inspection of markets to monitor trader’s compliance with government’s directive on reduction of street trading.
The team, lead by the Commander in charge of Anambra North Senatorial district of OCHA Brigade, Honorable Hilary Udeano visited Moore Street where drums with concrete, constructed by OCHA Brigade to wade off street trading, were handed over to the traders.
Others markets visited include Zik’s Avenue and Iweka road by Ochanja where it was observed that traders have move away from the roads.
In his reaction, Honorable Udeano while expressing delight over the compliance level pointed out that his team has done a lot at Onitsha Main Market, Ajasa, Ose, and Ochanja markets in Onitsha and urged traders to sustain the tempo.
In their separate reactions, Moore Street market leaders, including Messers Nnamdi Okafor, Anthony Malizu and Christopher Igwe expressed satisfaction over the effects of the erected concrete drums and promised to work with the State Government and the OCHA Brigade for its sustainability, calling on other markets to emulate same.
