The onward Journey of the Late Chinweozo Egbuna Amuta to the great beyond commenced with the reception of his body at Christ the King Parish Onitsha, where a requiem mass was held in his honour.

Before the commencement of the burial mass, members of the immediate family, ABS family, friends and well wishers filed passed his corpse paying their last respect.

The lessons of the day were read by first son and first daughter of the deceased, master Nworah and Miss Adaora Amuta.

The Late Chinweozo Egbuna Amuta who hailed from Ogbolieke, village Onitsha, untill his death was Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Grassroot Mobilization, Deputy Director, News Current Affairs Department, Anambra Broadcasting Service and a member of Agbalanze Society of Onitsha.

In his homily during the requiem mass celebrated by Reverend Father Pascal Agbo, the Manager, Christ the King College, Very Reverend Father Charles Okwumuo described the Late Chinweozo Amuta as a truthful, fearless and seasoned Journalist who used his talent to serve God and humanity while he was alive, stressing the need for every Christian to strive to use their talent and resources for the service of God and humanity now that they are still strong as time will come when they will not be able to do so.

He called on his family to take solace in the Lord and weep no more for their father left a great legacy knowing that he was in good terms with God, while calling on the congregation to love their neighbours and impact positively on their immediate environment.
In his remarks, the State Governor Chief Willie Obiano who said the entire State is grieving the death of the Late Chinweozo Egbuna Amuta and will greatly miss him described his death as a great loss to the entire State.

The Governor, represented by his Principal Secretary, Honorable Willie Nwokoye pointed out that the Late Egbuna Amuta has contributed immensely to the changes made by his administration due to his honesty , and disclosed granting his two children Scholarships.

The Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director Anambra Broadcasting Service, Chief Uche Nworah who was represented by the Head of Station ABS Onitsha, Mrs Njide Ezeonyejiaku stated that ABS is saddened by Egbuna Amuta’s death, describing him as one of the best hands in journalism who has proven that pen is mightier than sword, describing him as an encouragement to others who has left an indelible mark in ABS.

While appreciating those that graced the funeral on behalf of the family, Nnanyelugo Frank Amuta commended Chief Willie Obiano for his magnanimity in granting his children Scholarships and appreciated ABS Management for their support and encouragement as well as reminding the people on the need to adhere to COVID-19 modalities.

Speaking to the ABS in an interview at the graveside, the overall Diokpa of Ogbolieke village Onitsha, Nnanyelugo Chike Kwasie said the late Egbuna was a nice and God fearing man who always seek the good of the entire village, while his younger sister, Pastor Mrs Oby Moore said Egbuna’s death has created a great vacuum in their family describing him as a unifying force to the family.

The son of the deceased, Master Nworah Amuta laden with emotion said he has been looking forward to the day his father will introduce him to the world as a worthy son but regretted that the day will no longer come and promised to uphold his good legacy.

Highpoint of the ceremony was presentation of funeral Oration by his daughter, Miss Ngozi Amuta and internment proper.
