Anambra State House of Assembly Committee on Local Government, Chieftaincy and Town Union Matters, has charged Njikoka Local Government Area to be mindful of the Procurement Act in its activities.
House of Assembly Correspondent, Chukwuemeka Modilim reports that the Committee gave the charge when it visited the local government area as part of its constitutional responsibilities.
Speaking during the meeting, the Chairman of the Committee, Dr. Pete Ibida explained that it was designed to ensure that local government areas are working in accordance with the procurement Act to avoid abnormalities.
The committee observed that the financial records of the local government for the year 2019, which is under review fall short of accounting standards, particularly their cash flow.
It however urged it to strengthen it for the benefit of the State.
The Committee commended the Head of personnel of the local government for exhibiting a high sense of professionalism by keeping her records straight urging the local government treasurer and Head of works to emulate her.
In his remark, the Transition Committee Chairman for Njikoka Local Government Area, Mr George Ozor extolled the committee for doing thorough jobs on their documents, assuring that they will improve on their processes.
