South East Development Initiative has given governors of Enugu, Ebonyi and Anambra state a twenty one day ultimatum to probe multimillion dollars AFDB contracts awarded to Arthur Eze’s firms.

This was continued in a letter of commendation the group sent to the governors to thank them for doing well in the three states.
The group quoted the contracts to include two major contracts to provide portable water to people of the area, awarded in 1991 for rural water supply in old Anambra state and another contract for huge rural water in many communities in old Anambra state financed by the African Development Bank based in Cote d’Ivoire.

It said that both contracts were awarded to kings Engineering Company and Triax Engineering both located in New Heaven, Enugu and owned by Prince Arthur Eze.

The group explained further that eighty percent of the contract sums were to be paid in dollars, while twenty percent paid in naira.
It also said that the third contract financed by African Development Bank was awarded by the Old Anambra state government for the building of an industrial Development Centre in the present day Awka, new Anambra State capital, but regrettably, the contracts running into millions were not executed.

The group noted that the states have been paying for the loans direct from their federal allocation adding that it is too grave a matter to be swept under the cupboard.
