In a bid to improve the physical development of the state in line with
global best practices, Anambra State Government has intensified
efforts at addressing the issue of illegal structures and  encroachment  into
government land.

The State Task Force and Enforcement Team led by the Physical Planning Board  recovered  government lands in the hands of illegal occupiers
at Azu – Ogbunike, Oyi Council Area
.

Government House Correspondent, Ejike Abana reports that  some structures  are already springing up at the site which will accommodate the proposed Ogbunike Main Market,  which has  large expanse of
land, while the government market which is expected to house aluminum
materials dealers is fast becoming a reality.

Officials of the Board were seen marking some structures for immediate removal.

The Commissioner for Lands, Bonaventure Enemali who was part of the
exercise , said that the land owners in the area made it an
uphill task for government to perform enumeration as part of the
re-aquistion process, warning that henceforth, all illegal structures
in the area will be pulled down to accommodate government master plan
for the site.

According to Chief Executive Officer of the state Physical Planning
Board, Barrister Chike Maduekwe, the Board is working assiduously to
restore and control physical development in the state through proper
measures  and inline with lay down laws.

The total  of government land in the location is about twenty two hectares.
