Federal Government has been urged to map out far reaching measures that will check the high rate of crime, incessant killings, kidnappings and rape in the Country.
The President Aguata Diocesan Women’s Ministry Mrs Chinyere Ezeofor made the call at Saint Peter’s Parish Igboukwu in Aguata Local Government Area while presenting her address to delegates attending the fifteenth Aguata Diocesan Women’s Conference.
Blessing Uchendu who covered the event for the ABS reports that Mrs Ezeofor while canvassing for continuous prayer for the Nigerian-Nation in view of the numerous challenges facing it, especially insecurity called for an equitable distribution of the nation’s resources among the six geo-political zones.
She described COVID-19 pandemic as a teacher which has taught many people best hygiene practices.
Mrs Ezeofor urged the government to place priority on healthcare delivery, and commended Governor Willie Obiano for series of interventions which led to the control of the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic in Anambra State.
The President of Aguata Diocesan Women’s Ministry who scored Anambra State high in terms of infrastructural development as it clocks twenty-nine, however appealed for the completion of the Ufuma-Awa-Ndiukwuenu-Okpeze-Amansea road to enhance both vehicular and human movements as well as improved business transactions.
Mrs Ezeofor, who stressed the need for women to make Jesus Christ the standing point of their faith, challenged them to be more committed to the work of God.
One of the delegates, Mrs Ifeyinwa Okonkwo, who moved a motion for the acceptance of the presidential address as a working document for the Women’s Ministry in Aguata Diocese, commended the Bishop and his wife for their unalloyed support to the Ministry in Aguata Diocese and beyond.
In an opening remark, the Anglican Bishop of Aguata Diocese, Right Reverend Samuel Ezeofor, while commending the contributions of the women to the development of the Diocese, urged them to improve on their motherly role in their various families in addition to anchoring their faith on God.
The Senior Special Assistant to Governor Willie Obiano on Secondary School Monitoring, Dame Chinyere Mbakwe, and another delegate, Lady Ngozi Ike, described the theme of the Conference “Jesus Christ: The Pioneer and Perfecter, Author and Finisher of Our Faith” as apt, noting that it would rekindle their faith in God.
The Anglican Bishop of Ogbaru Diocese Right Reverend Prosper Amah, Bishop’s Wives from other Sister Dioceses in Anambra and beyond, members of the clergy and their wives and the Diocesan women, among others attended the event.
The Conference also featured prayers and presentation of gifts by the clergy wives and different women groups in the Diocese to the Bishop’s wife amidst songs of praises.
