Members of the Anambra State House of Assembly have praised the
Commissioner for Lands, Survey and Urban Planning, Mr. Bonaventure
Enemali, for his innovations in addressing land administration
challenges in the State.
Mr. Enemali was commended when the House Committee on Tender and
Procurement paid a visit to the Ministry to ascertain their mode of
operation in land allocations.
The Committee led by the Member representing Idemili South, Honourable
Chuka Ezenwune, inspected the Ministry’s environment as well as the
hall for the Geographic Information System, GIS, introduced by the
Commissioner.
The GIS hall was equipped with computers, with eighty staff,to operate
the computers.
Honourable Ezenwune observed that the new Geographic Information
System would go a long way in solving the major problem of double
allocation of lands, as recorded previously.
Receiving the Committee, at his Office in Awka, Commissioner Enemali
noted that the innovation was as a result of Governor Willie Obiano’s
directive that all Lands in the State would be electronically accessed
to promote transparency and discourage fraudulent activities related
to lands.
According to him, the Electronics Data Management System, EDMS, will
capture every land data online, as it will end paper documentation, to
further avoid the tale of loss of files.
