Anambra State House of Assembly Committee on Social Development Goals, Economic Planning and Donor Agencies has expressed satisfaction with the level of work done by the contractor handling the hostel project at Saint John’s Science and Technical College, Alor, Idemmili South Local Government Area.
The Committee disclosed this during an oversight visit to the project site.
House of Assembly Correspondent, Chukwuemeka Modilim was there and reports that the six hundred rooms’ hostel project, which is still under construction, is being executed under the World Bank Assisted State Education Programme Investment Projects, SEPIP.
Speaking after on the spot assessment of the project, the Chairman, House Committee on Social Development Goals, Economic Planning and Donor Agencies, Honourable Ebele Ejiofor observed that the level of work done so far is commensurate with the funds released.
The Lawmaker commended Anambra State Government and the World Bank for their commitment towards timely completion of the project.
In his remark, the Manager, Saint John’s Science and Technical College, Alor, Reverend Father Francis Unegbu revealed that the project which is at the roofing stage, started eight months ago, adding that on completion it will arrest hostel accommodation problem confronting the college.
On his part, the Principal of the school, Mr. Samuel Otuba, who noted that the project will change the image of the college, thanked Anambra State Government and the World Bank for deeming it right to continue with the project.
The Committee also inspectenother ongoing hostel project at Archbishop Harry Technical College, Ogidi where it expressed satisfaction with the level of work done.
Conducting the Committee round the project, the General Secretary of the school, Mr. Emmanuel Nnaemelu said the project, which is also at the roofing stage, when completed will solve their accommodation problem and give the school a face lift.
