Today, September first, ushers in the start of the 2020 ember months.
Ember month, a popular period that has become unique for its mixed
perception, is collectively used to describe the last four months of
the year namely September, October, November and December.
There are popular views that ember months are the busiest periods of
the year, perhaps, because they mark the end of the year, when people
expect to bring every event of the year to a close.

There are also assumptions that ember months come with high economic
and social demands, putting people on their toes when it comes to
making ends meet.

The eventful days that define the period, however, lend credence to
the fact that ember months are arguably a very important period in
every year.

Marriages, funerals and other top social and cultural events are
usually reserved for ember months because of the significance of the
period.

The period is also significant because it marks the departure of the
rainy season and the imminent aura of windy dusts and cold that define
the harmattan season.

The entry into this year’s ember months comes with mixed feelings
because of the ravages of COVID-19, however, there is a high hope that
the four ember months would turn out eventful and perfect.
