The Member Representing Njikoka Two Constituency at the state House of
Assembly, Honourable Pete Ibida has stressed the need for NdIgbo to
celebrate their iconic leaders both alive and death as a way of
showing gratitude for their various efforts in championing the cause
of the tribe.


Honourable Ibida stated this during the unveiling of the statue of the
late traditional ruler of Abagana, Njikoka Local Government Area, late
Igwe Angus Obike Ilonze, erected by the community in remembrance of
his good works.


While describing the Late Abagana Monarch as a core humanitarian and a
very visible defender of the old Njikoka council area and Igbo cause
in general, Honourable Ibida said he well deserved the honour.
Late Igwe Ilonze, who was crowned in 1958 at thirty-three, joined his
ancestors in 1989.


Among the dignitaries that graced the occasion were the Transition
Committee Chairman of Njikoka Local Government Council, Mr. George
Ozor, the traditional ruler of Abagana community, Igwe Mbamalu Okeke,
and the Chairman, Umudum Abagana, Sir Ezenwa Godwin among others.
