The suspension of the Traditional Ruler of Ezira in Orumba South Local
Government Area, Igwe Samuel Uche, by the Anambra State Government has received the endorsement of members of the community, who called for his outright dethronement.

At a solidarity protest at the Government House Awka in support of the
State Government’s action, the people of Ezira carrying placards with
various inscriptions, bemoaned anti-people’s activities of the
suspended traditional ruler, urging Governor Willie Obiano to come to
their rescue.

While speaking through the Traditional Prime Minister of Ezira, Chief Caleb
Ike, Messrs Jude Umunnakwe and Emma Nwakuba, the people of Ezira under the aegis of concerned members of Ezira Community, expressed support and solidarity with the State government’s decision to suspend Igwe Samuel Uche, over his involvement in the ill-advised visit to Abuja
and the inglorious viral money-sharing video.

They equally applauded the Anambra State Traditional Rulers Council
under the leadership of Igwe Alfred Achebe of Onitsha, for their
thorough analysis of the whole scenario and recommendation to the
State Government for appropriate actions to be taken against the
dissident traditional rulers.

Receiving the protesters, the State Commissioner for Local Government,
Chieftaincy and Town Union Matters, Chief Greg Obi, represented by the
Public Relations Officer in the Ministry, Mr Henry Nwasike, thanked
them for being peaceful in their conduct, promising that their
petition will get to the appropriate authorities.
