The Traditional Ruler of Awka Obi Gibson Nwosu says Anambra State has witnessed an unprecedented development in the last twenty-nine years.
Speaking to the ABS in a telephone interview, Obi Nwosu maintained that the founding fathers of the State needs to be extolled for their foresight in working for the creation of Anambra State, making Awka the capital.
Obi Nwosu who said that he was among those that set the ball rolling for the smooth take off of the present Anambra State when he was the pioneer General Manager of the Anambra State Environmental Sanitation Authority, ASESA.
The traditional ruler said that he later served as the Chairman of Anambra State Urban Road Maintenance Agency.
He commended the giant strides of former Military Administrators of Anambra State especially the first Military Administrator Navy Captain Joseph Abulu and the first Civilian Governor of Anambra State Dr Chukwuemeka Ezeife and other successive Governors for all their efforts aimed at fast tracking the development of the State.
Obi Nwosu who maintained that Awka the Capital of Anambra State, has been transformed into a modern City in view of the achievements of various administrations in the State described the Light up project of the Obiano administration and the various road projects being executed by the government as clear indication that the administration is people oriented.
Obi Nwosu while re-assuring Governor Willie Obiano of the continued support and cooperation of the people of Awka to his administration, called on Ndi Anambra to see the development of the State as a collective responsibility.
The Traditional ruler of Awka community urged the people to embrace the Ugbo-azu-uno scheme of the Obiano administration to ensure food security.
