A special valedictory session was held at the Anambra State
House of Assembly for the late Honourable Okechukwu Ekpe,who
represented Njikoka One Constituency between 1999-2003.
House of Assembly Correspondent, Chukwuemeka Modilim reports that it
was a moment of sober reflection as both his colleagues and members of
the Seventh Assembly adorned in black attire paid their last respect
to the deceased.
In his tribute, the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Right
Honourable Uche Okafor described the late lawmaker as an accomplished
parliamentarian and a fulfilled man who represented his constituency
effectively.
The speaker recalled that as the chairman, House committee on
Education, the lawmaker made an impressive marks as an erudite teacher
and enjoined his family to keep his legacies alife.
Commenting, the member representing Njikoka One Constituency, Dr.
Timothy Ifedioramma described the late lawmaker as a God fearing man
who discharged his duties creditably as well as stood for truth no
matter whose ox is gored.
On his part, the member representing Njikoka Two Constituency, Dr.
Pete Ibida also eulogized the Sterling qualities of the deceased,
while his former colleague who represented Awka South Two Constituency
in the second Assembly, Honourable Onyekachi Anyaanyo urged the
leadership of the Seventh Assembly to always look into the welfare of
former and present lawmakers in the interest of the House.
