Governor Willie Obiano has reminded Ndi Anambra of the need to bring their wealth home for enhanced development of the State.
He spoke during the inauguration of a half kilometer road constructed by a philanthropist Chief Vincent Nwanko at Onneh in Orumba South Local Government Area.
Works Correspondent Ngozi Obileri covered the event and reports that Governor Obiano represented by the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment Mr C Don Adinuba, appreciated Chief Nwankwo for having the interest of the people of his community at heart adding that the move should be emulated.
Enumerating the achievements of the State government and individuals in the state, Governor Obiano recalled that Anambra is one of the States with lowest unemployment rate in the country, the lowest in number of COVID-19 cases and the best in handling the treatment of COVID-19 patients as was declared by the World Health Organization and other agencies.
Urging the well to do in the Community to enroll the indigent ones among them into Anambra State Health Insurance Scheme to enable them access quality health care, Governor Obiano noted that for the first time, Onneh has a complete tarred road done by state government under his administration.
The Commissioner for Public Utilities Mr Emeka Ezenwanne who was also present at the event explained that every community in the State has recorded and will continue to record government’s presence calling on all to monitor and maintain such projects against vandals.
On his Part, the Commissioner for Health Dr Vincent Okpala who thanked the philanthropist Chief Nwankwo for his kind gesture reiterated the commitment of the State government to strengthening Primary Health Centers across the State.
In an interview, the philanthropist Chief Nwankwo said he decided to do the road for his people to reduce their plights and to join State government in developing the State as he said government alone cannot do everything.
Earlier, the President-General of the Community, Chief Uchechukwu Mmaduike, appreciated Governor Obiano for constructing a road in their Community, starting street light project for them and the twenty million naira community choose your project initiative which he said benefitted them immensely, as well as sinking of borehole for them among many others and pledged their support to his administration.
The event featured the naming of the road after Chief Vincent Nwankwo and inauguration of the road by Mr Ezenwanne.
