Anambra State Association Michigan U.S.A has donated forty-four thousand surgical masks to Anambra state government to support fight against Covid-19 pandemic in hospitals in the state.
Members of the group led by the President, Dr Martin Egenti who was represented by the Managing Director of Anambra State Investment and Protection Agency, Dr Ifediora Amobi, made the presentation to the state government at the Government House Awka through Secretary to the State Government, Professor Solo Chukwulobelu.
While receiving the item on behalf of the state government, Professor Chukwulobelu thanked the group for supporting the government in the ongoing fight against Covid-19 pandemic in the state, and called on other Ndi Anambra in the diaspora to borrow a leaf from them.
Professor Chukwulobelu while regretting that some churches in the state are no more paying attention to Covid-19 preventive measures, called on church leaders in the state to encourage their members to continue to adhere strictly to Covid-19 protocols especially proper wearing of facemasks.
Speaking, the representative of the association’s president who commended Governor Obiano for being proactive in the fight against the deadly disease in the state, assured that they will continue to support the state.
On his part, the state Commissioner for Health, Dr Vincent Okpala said the materials will go a long way in protecting health workers in hospitals across the state and reminded Ndi Anambra that Covid-19 is still in existence, advising that all should keep adhering to the preventive measures against the virus in order to be safe.
