Death has been described as a transition from glory to higher glory for every mortal, which  nobody can tell when it will come calling.


The need for all to be prepared at all times always formed the highpoint of every funeral message and a note of warning for the living irrespective of Gender, age, class or ,status.


Correspondent Emengini Osadebe was at The Late Akunnia Okigbo’s Compound Awuda Nnobi Idemili South Council Area where the late Mrs Patricia Adaobi Okigbo was laid to rest and filed in this report.
The late Mrs Patricia Okigbo, an Oblate of St Benedict who died at the age of seventy seven was the mother of Ifeoma Okigbo of Programmes department of Anambra Broadcasting Service Onitsha and the mother of the Resident Priest, Madonna Catholic Church Nkpor, Reverend Father Patrick Okigbo. 


Until her death she was a devout and practising Catholic, member of various Catholic organisations and was survived by eight children, eleven grand children and many other relations.


Addressing the congregation during the requiem mass celebrated on her honour, at St Mary’s Catholic Church Awuda Nnobi, the Metropolitan Archbishop of Onitsha Most Reverend Dr Valerian Okeke charged the Okigbo family to continue on the path of truth and righteousness their mother has led them saying that there mother has ran her race through Christ and stood firm by her faith without wavering.


Most Reverend Dr Okeke who commended the son of the deceased Reverend Father Patrick Okigbo for his hard work and commitment to  pastoral duty expressed joy at the turnout of Madonna  Catholic Church Nkpor’s parishioners at the funeral urging him not to relent.


Earlier in his homily at the mass the Manager Seat of Wisdom Secondary School Nnobi Reverend Father Benjamin Ezekwudoh noted that death is an unacceptable experience and that is why people still weep when their loved on dies saying that the late madam Patricia Okigbo has ran her race and ended at the feet of Christ who is the only source of life to mankind adding that whoever that lives a righteous life no doubt will be among the saints whose souls shall by any means hurt them.

In  separate interviews, the Director of Programmes ABS Mrs Nneka Ekwunife and Director of Administration ABS Lady Tina Ekenta, condoled the Okigbo family urging them to take solace in the Lord and do not weep like those without hope as their mother lived a righteous life.


Some people who have come to condole the family including Retired Managing Director of NTA Mr Emeka Obinwa, the deceased  in-law from Nri Chief Pascal Ezegbo and Reverend Father Paul Nwanegbo described the late Mama Okigbo as a woman whose life has impacted positively on the lives of her children and those who came in contact with her and urged the family to bear the lose with fortitude.


The deceased Sons Mr Chike Okigbo and Reverend Father Patrick Okigbo described their mother as a their mentor, formator, disciplinarian and character moulder who lived a prayerful and peaceful life promised to uphold her legacy.


Her daughters,  Mrs Adaeze Uzoegbo and Ifeoma Okigbo of the ABS stated that their mother taught them love towards all and malice towards none saying that she was unique in all ramifications and epitome of honesty, humility and love and promised to keep her legacy alive, while her first grand child Miss Joan Uzoegbo said they will miss her dearly .
