Commissioner for Basic Education Professor Kate Omenugha has inagurated vehicles and office equipment aimed at improving the quality of education in the state.
The vehicles and office equipment supplied to ASUBEB by the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC)Abuja, were commissioned at ASUBEB office in Awka. Education correspondent Theophilus Ukoha was there and now completes the story.
Commissioner Omenugha during the ceremony said the state government values quality education hence the move to train and retrain personnel and procure equipment that will drive the course and thanked UBEC for their support in quality assurance .
In his speech the Executive Chairman ASUBEB Chief Patrick Ugboaja, said the Board with the support of the state government paid up the counterpart fund for the 2018FGN /UBEC Intervention fund , hence the supply of the equipment and vehicles from UBEC and assured that it will be distributed to Quality Assurance Officers in the state.
He thanked Commissioner Omenugha and Governor Willie Obiano for the good work in ensuring quality education in Anambra State.
In a welcome address delivered by the Director Quality Assurance(ASUBEB) Mrs Ogochukwu Obi said the vehicles and office equipment supplied will no doubt enhance effective teaching and learning in all basic schools in the state and also will spur NDI Anambra teachers and learners to strive more towards maintaining the lead as number one in Education Sector in South East and Nigeria at large.
In his remarks, the Director Quality Assurance Department, Universal Basic Education Commission Abuja Mal Mansir Idris in his remark commended the state governor for his supports to the growth and quality education in Anambra State, noting that there are critical evidence that Anambra is one of the best performing state in the education sector and emphasized the need for Quality Assurance Department and officers to rise up to the occasion and ensure effective teaching and learning as well as functional school administration in all basic education schools.
Seventeen motorcycles, laptops, generating sets,office equipment, three hilux vehicles commissioned were later handed over to the Quality Assurance Evaluators in LG Education Zones .
