Anambra State Government says the sixtieth Independence Day free Medical outreach and Health awareness programme is one of its public-private partnership programmes towards promoting healthy living of the people.

 


The Commissioner for Health, Dr Vincent Okpala stated this at the outreach programme which took place at Orumba General Hospital, Ajalli in Orumba North Local Government Area.
The medical outreach, initiated by Dr. Emeka Okeke of RISE Clinic and Dr Dube Onyejiaka, the Chief Executive Officer of Anambra Business Collision, is in collaboration with the State Government aimed at developing rural health care system in the state.

The free Medical outreach and Health awareness program which is in commemoration of the 60th Independence Day of Nigeria had in attendance traditional rulers, members of the state House of Assembly, Transition Committee Chairmen of Orumba North, South and Aguata Council Area , youths and the elderly among others.

Speaking shortly after touring the facilities at the General Hospital, the Commissioner for Health Dr. Okpala expressed satisfaction that meaning individuals in the state are concerned by the need to take care of fellow Nigerians.

The Health Commissioner noted that the modern hospital equipment in the health center is as a result of initiatives of Governor Willie Obiano to involve private institutions through public private partnerships to boost the health care system in the State.

In their welcome addresses, Dr Okeke of RISE Clinic and Dr. Onyejiaka, of Anambra Business Coalition said that it is their desire to ensure that all General Hospitals in the state function optimally to ensure that all communities have acces to good healthcare service delivery, adding that the Orumba General Hospital has now been equipped to handle any health related cases.

For the Members representing Orumba North and South in the state House of Assembly Honourable Emeka Afoka and Emma Nwafor, commended the choice of celebrating Nigeria at 60 with the health outreach and promised to drive the message of regular health check-up to their constituents .

Other speakers at the event include, the Anambra state Commissioner for Housing, Architect Mike Okonkwo, the Transition Committee Chairman of Aguata, Dr Eche Ezibe and the Senior Special Assistant to Anambra state Governor on Health Insurance and Pension Matters, Mr. Dozie Okpalaugo.
