The Federal Commissioner representing Anambra State in the National
Population Commission, NPC, Mr. Chidi Ezeoke has called on critical
stakeholders in the State and Ndi Anambra to support the commission to
ensure the successful and full realization of the enumeration area
demarcation in the State.

Mr. Ezeoke made the call while addressing the press at Abagana Civic
Center before the commencent of the phase ten of the fieldwork of the
enumeration area demarcation in Njikoka Local Government Area.

The Enumeration area demarcation is a core preparatory and
foundational activity before any census is conducted.

The tenth phase of the field work of the enumeration area demarcation
which is taking place in Njikoka Local Government Area is happening
consecutively in thirty-three local government areas in twenty-six
states of the federation.

According to the Federal Commissioner, Mr. Ezeoke, the Commission has
successfully demarcated two hundred and twenty eight local government
areas and the remaining five hundred and forty six local government
areas will be covered in subsequent phases.

He stated that the success of the demarcation will be based on
community support and cooperation by allowing the staff to
professionally do their duty and properly sensitize the people on the
reason for the project to avoid unnecessary misinformation.

On his part, the Anambra State Director, National Population
Commission, Mr. Joachin Ulasi said that the enumeration area
demarcation has been successfully conducted in six local government
areas in the state and was optimistic that the exercise will succeed
in Njikoka.

The press briefing and opening ceremony of the exercise was attended
by the Transition Committee chairman of Njikoka Local Government Area,
Mr. George Ozo represented by the Supervisor for Education and Social
Welfare in the council, Mr. Nkem Obuzor, Presidents General of the six
communities in the council area and their representatives.

In an interview, the traditional ruler of Abagana, Igwe Mbamalu Okeke
who spoke on behalf of other stakeholders of the communities, assured
of total support of the towns’ leaderships throughout the period of
the exercise.

The training of the functionaries kicked off yesterday October 5,
and will end on Friday October 9, while the fieldwork will start
October 10 and end on the 30th of this month.
