Assembly says it is only the Anambra state government that has the
capacity to restore lasting peace to their community.
Ezeume made the assertion during a media chat at Enugwu Nanka, in
Orumba North local council area.
While briefing the media on behalf of Nanka People’s Assembly, Chief Ezeume
whose release was read by Mr. Henry Okeke regretted that the community
has suffered serious setback because of the coming on board of a
parallel town union executive which he said has stalled development in
the community.
Chief Ezeume assured that they are ready to work with state government
in ensuring that peace returned to the community.
He among other situations described as worrisome the
merging of the seven villages of Nanka into five.
He recalled that late Igwe Gilbert Offomata’s opposition to the
alteration of the town’s constitution to effect the merger, did not go
down well with few influential persons.
On the issue of celebrating last Ofala for the late Igwe offomata,
Chief Ezeume alleged that the Nanka Patriotic Union organized a party
in a field instead of the palace, at a time when the body of the late
monarch was still in a morgue, a situation he described as a
sacrilege.
Chief Ezeume, said they are waiting for the state government to wade
into the matter and broker peace as promised.
