More women groups have identified with the wife of Anambra State
governor, Dr Ebelechukwu Obiano as she kicks off her 2020 local
government  tour.

Notable among them is Worldwide Organization for Women Africa
incorporated, WOW, that honoured Dr Mrs. Obiano alongside the
Commissioner for Social Welfare, Children and Women Affairs, Lady
Ndidi Mezue with Excellent Service Award in  the United States of
America.

Awka South council headquarters, Amawbia was recently filled to
capacity as various women groups trouped out in their numbers with
different uniforms and banners to commemorate the commencement of this
year’s tour of the twenty-one local government areas of the state by
Dr Mrs. Obiano.

 

In his speech,  the Special Assistant to Governor Willie Obiano on
Agriculture and a member of the association, Mrs. Theresa Okoye said
that they joined forces with Dr Mrs. Obiano in saying no to domestic
violence, sexual abuse, discrimination and neglect of women, widows
and the girl child.

Mrs. Okoye disclosed that their programmes are geared towards
eliminating the debilitating effects of abject poverty, obtrusive
cultural restrictions, gender-based discrimination that affects the
rights and lives of wom

en and children.

Contributing, the South East coordinator of Worldwide Organization for
Women, Africa incorporated, Mrs. Ethel Eruchalu said that they are
proud to align with Dr Mrs. Obiano because their ideologies are geared
towards addressing gender issues and alleviating the plight of the
less privileged persons in the society.

Mrs. Eruchalu solicited  prayers from people  to enable them
to achieve their vision and mission.
The mouth piece of the organization, Mrs  Nkem Umeadi while describing
education as the best legacy any government can bequeathed to the
future generations, announced their readiness to expose students to
the importance of education through debates and other academic
activities.

The Disability Coordinator of the Organization , Mrs. Gloria Nwafor, saddled with the
responsibility of identifying their members that seriously need help,
said they have mapped out measures to monitor the activities of
beneficiaries to ensure that the empowerment equipment given to them
are put into full use.
Mrs. Nwafor stated that any beneficiary found guilty of not putting
the benefited empowerment equipment into maximum use will be black
listed from benefiting from all intervention programs in the state.
